Post-Doc position ?Mesoscale Modelling? at Goethe-University Frankfurt (Germany)
We are happy to announce a Post-Doc position (100% TV-G-U E13) at the Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences in the group for Mesoscale Meteorology and Climate. The position is available for a period of 4 years with possible extension for two more years. Further information on our institute can be found on the web at http://www.geo.uni-frankfurt.de/iau .
The improvement of our understanding of the mesoscale processes and the interfaces between sea-surface, land and atmosphere, which are key areas in regional climate systems, will be the main goal for the candidate. The regional climate model of our choice is COSMO-CLM ( http://www.clm-community.eu ), which has its own a land surface model and furthermore, it was coupled to an ocean model (NEMO) in our group. Active co-operation within our group is essential and as well with our partners (e.g. DWD, BiK-F, HyMeX). Besides the own research, support of PhD students and teaching are on the task list. We are looking for a highly self-motivated person, who has good communication and programming skills.
The requirements for this position are: University degree in meteorology, mathematics or a related subject, PhD degree in one of the aforementioned areas; excellent computer and statistics skills; English language skills (German is of advantage but not required); and good communication skills. For more information, please contact Bodo.Ahrens@iau.uni-frankfurt.de (tel: +49 69 798 40244). Deadline for applications is extended to August 30, 2012. If you are interested in this position, please submit your CV, a short statement on planned research, and further information (e.g. list of publications) per e-mail as a single pdf-file attachment to: Andrea Radomilja Ruiz <RadomiljaRuiz@iau.uni-frankfurt.de>.
The Goethe-University is determined to increase the number of female researchers. Therefore, applications from qualified women are strongly encouraged. In addition, the Goethe-University is an equal-opportunity employer and in case of candidates with equal qualifications and aptitude, preference will be given to handicapped applicants.
