A post-doctoral research scientist is sought within the Department of
Meteorology, University of Reading, UK, to work as part of a large
multidisciplinary NERC-funded highlight topic project, SMURPHS (Securing
Multidisciplinary UndeRstanding and Prediction of Hiatus and Surge events)
involving collaboration between many leading UK climate research centres.
SMURPHS aims to improve our understanding of the contributing factors to
hiatus and surge events in global temperatures, including the hiatus event
in the early part of this century. The focus of the research scientist's
work will be on quantifying atmospheric composition changes and their
contributions to the changing radiation budget of the planet.
The research scientist will work under the supervision of Professor Keith
Shine (k.p.shine@reading.ac.uk) and Dr Michaela Hegglin
(m.i.hegglin@reading.ac.uk).
