Context / Contexte
Within the context of a large scale H2020 European project on Scientific Data Infrastructure, EUDAT2020 http://eudat.eu/ , many services are being developed (the "B2" services). Many of these services are already operational et are used by several european scientific communities. Future services are also currently being designed and developed, using gathered requirements of the scientific communities as well as an exploration of leading-edge technologies.
Description / Description
The current work will focus on the data life cycle in geophysics (especially climate modelling data), and on the execution of workflows using Cloud Computing and docker technology. This implies several aspects related to semantic, annotations (metadata), PIDs (Persistent IDs).
This work will require the exploration and test of new technologies in collaboration with French and European partners, given specifications decided and discussed at several teleconferences and workshops throughout Europe. It will then require the applicant to participate in those, since the project has 33 partners, among them 10 partners who are directly involved in this workpackage.
Main part of the work will take place at CERFACS, in a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must be able to work efficiently in a working team, have a very good organization in its work. We are seeking a candidate with many of the following technical knowledge: scientific programming, unix, python, WPS/WMS/WCS, docker, shell programming, C/C++, NetCDF. Moreover, the knowledge of specific "Big Data" technologies would be an asset, such as Hadoop, iRODS, Cloud Computing, etc.
