Hi,
Could you please post the following postdoc position.
Many thanks in advance,
Ibrahim
==================
Postdoc in Ocean Modeling and Physical Oceanography at KAUST
Applications are sought for a postdoctoral position in ocean modeling at
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). KAUST is a
graduate research university located at the Red Sea coast 80 km north of
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. KAUST employees and students from around the world
enjoy western style living campus (http://kaust.edu.sa).
The successful applicant will join an established research group at KAUST
working on modeling and studying the Saudi Seas, and developing data
assimilation systems for analyzes and prediction of their circulation. The
group is mainly using the MIT general circulation model (but other OGCMs
could be considered as well) on the KAUST BlueGene supercomputer. The group
is collaborating with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI), Jackson
School of Geosciences at the University of Texas - Austin, and Scripps
Institution of Oceanography. The postdoc is expected to spend several weeks
per year at one these institutions. The primary responsibilities will
involve configuring and running a general circulation ocean model and
analyzing their outputs to study the physical oceanography of the region.
Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in physical oceanography (or
any related field) with experience in configuring and running large scales
general circulation ocean models on supercomputers. Familiarity with
scientific programming in Fortran, and other languages/softwares like
Matlab is a must. Candidates with good publishing record will be given
preference.
The compensation package includes a competitive tax-free salary; free fully
furnished housing; health care (medical and dental); 4 weeks annual
vacation, free international schools, and family annual travel allowance .
To apply, please send a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest with the
names and contact information of at least two references to Dr. Ibrahim
Hoteit, ibrahim.hoteit@kaust.edu.sa

The postdoc will work on developing and implementing advanced data
assimilation schemes with high resolution ocean models of Red Sea and the
Persian Gulf. The successful applicant will join an established research
group at KAUST working on modeling and studying the Saudi Seas, and
developing data assimilation systems for analyzes and prediction of their
circulation. The group is already running ensemble (DART-MITgcm) and
variational (ECCO-MITgcm) based assimilation systems on the KAUST BlueGene
supercomputer. The group is collaborating with Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institute (WHOI), Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and Jackson School
of Geosciences at the University of Texas - Austin. The postdoc is expected

ocean model and analyzing their outputs to study the physical oceanography
of the region.
Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, or any
closely related field. We are looking for candidates with experience in
large scale ocean data assimilation problems. The compensation package
includes a competitive tax-free salary; free fully furnished housing
