A postdoctoral research position is available in the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS)
in the area of aerosol modeling. The IASS is an international, interdisciplinary center of excellence
located in Potsdam, Germany (http://www.iass-potsdam.de).
The successful candidate will contribute to a research project investigating the impact of black
carbon emissions on air quality and climate using numerical models. Of particular interest are the
Arctic and the Himalayan Region. The project will provide valuable information about the role of local
black carbon sources vs. long-range transport, climate change under different scenarios, and possible
mitigation pathways underlying policy-relevant applications. The position will at first be filled for 2
years.
The position is available immediately, and will remain open until filled. The position will be filled
either as an IASS international fellowship (tax-free stipend), which allows substantial flexibility and
freedom to carry out the overall task as the researcher deems appropriate, or as a contract within
the German public service federal employment system (TV?D Bund E13).
