Department of Physics, University of Toronto, Canada
Postdoctoral position - ACE Isotopologue Project

A post-doctoral position (PDF) is available beginning in Fall 2013
(potentially from October 2013) in the Department of Physics at the
University of Toronto. This position is associated with the Atmospheric
Chemistry Experiment (ACE) satellite mission (see
http://www.ace.uwaterloo.ca) and is funded by the Natural Sciences and
Engineering Research Council for two years.

The PDF will be part of the ACE satellite science team working with data
from the high resolution infrared Fourier transform spectrometer
(ACE-FTS). ACE-FTS provides height profiles of a large number of
atmospheric trace gases. The PDF will be investigating the enrichment /
depletion of minor isotopologues of atmospheric trace gases using
measurements from ACE-FTS and undertaking comparisons of these results
with model simulations.

The position is based in Toronto, Canada and will be supervised by Prof.
Kaley Walker. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Candidates must hold a PhD in atmospheric physics or chemistry (or a
relevant and related chemistry, physics or mathematics field) and must
have excellent computation, analysis and written and oral communication
skills. Preference will be given to candidates having experience with
satellite remote sensing, atmospheric models or measurements of
isotopologues in the lab or field. Candidates must be self-motivated
and able to work independently.

Applicants should send a CV, application letter and the names of at
least two references (preferably three) to Prof. Kaley Walker at:
kwalker@atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca. The one-page application letter
should address the qualifications and suitability of the candidate for
the PDF position. *Be sure to note the title of the position that you
are applying for in the subject of your email and your letter.*

To be considered for this position, complete applications must arrive by
11 August 2013.

The PDF will be part of the ACE satellite science team working with data
from the high resolution infrared Fourier transform spectrometer
(ACE-FTS). ACE-FTS provides vertical profiles of a large number of
atmospheric trace gases. The PDF will be responsible for developing
climatologies of upper troposphere / lower stratosphere species measured
by ACE-FTS and investigating the global distributions and temporal
evolution of these species. In addition, the PDF will be involved in
model-measurement intercomparison studies and exploring new ways of
comparing solar occultation measurements with model output.

The position is based in Toronto, Canada and will be supervised by Prof.
Kaley Walker. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Candidates must hold a PhD in atmospheric physics or chemistry (or a
relevant and related chemistry, physics or mathematics field) and must
