PhD Studentship Opportunities in the Environment East Doctoral Training
Partnership (EnvEast DTP)
We are delighted to announce that EnvEast has received a ?5 million
award from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) to create a
new Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP); a collaboration between the
Universities of East Anglia, Kent and Essex and 22 other research
partners. EnvEast will enrol its first students in October 2014 and will
support over 60 PhD students enrolling over the next five years in
environmental, earth and ecological sciences. They will join a vibrant
research community of other PhD research students from the UK and across
the globe studying in the same or similar areas.
The EnvEast DTP will provide training notably in three key themes of
international significance:
(i) Climate, Marine and Atmospheric Systems
(ii) Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Sustainable Development
(iii) Natural Hazards
The partnership draws together relevant expertise from a complementary
set of research organisations to train scientists capable of making
outstanding contributions to their discipline and able to apply their
knowledge to the challenges facing the UK economy, the quality of life
for its citizens, and the state of the global environment.
The first studentship competition is now open (November 2013) for entry
in October 2014. Deadline for applications is midnight on 6th January 2014.
Please see
https://www.uea.ac.uk/science/graduate-school/home/prospective-students/enveast-nerc-doctoral-training-partnership
for full details and instructions on how to apply.
In general full studentship funding for 3.5 years of study is available
for UK residents, while most EU applicants would be eligible for
fees-only funding. Most non-EU nationals will NOT be eligible for
funding but a small number will be. We ask applicants to check their
eligibility carefully before applying because the eligibility rules are
complex.
