The Met Office currently has a vacancy for a Regional Network Manager based in Crawley, West Sussex.
As Regional Network Manager, you'll help to ensure that we're obtaining the highest quality weather observations. Much of your time will be spent visiting
weather stations across the South East region as it will be your responsibility to conduct inspections and collect metadata about our observing sites.
With a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or geographical subject, you'll come to us with a keen interest in weather observing systems. You'll also need to be a real people person with a track record of developing good working relationships with others.

MSc PROGRAMME IN POLAR AND ALPINE CHANGE, 2014-15
Department of Geography, University of Sheffield, UK
I write with information about this MSc programme offered at our
university which may interest applicants
looking for Masters courses in the UK within the area of Climate and
Environmental Sciences.
This MSc explores some of the most dramatic environmental and climatic
changes on our planet --- those occurring in polar and alpine regions.
Students learn about the processes and changes in these regions and gain
skills in scientifically analysing and interpreting them. The programme
is one year long and taught by our climate scientists and glaciologists.
A core part of it is a summer fieldclass in an arctic or alpine
destination (students on the past trips visited Svalbard in the
Norwegian Arctic). Also, as part of their training, students complete
a supervised research dissertation on their chosen topic over an
eight-month period.
We invite applicants with a track record of performing at UK
Upper-Second Class level or above (or at an equivalent level overseas)
at undergraduate level,
including applicants from diverse science backgrounds such as
Climate/Earth/Ocean Sciences, Environmental Science & Engineering,
Physical Geography, Physics,
Mathematics and Biology.
Our graduates have been successful in moving into PhD positions on
subjects like climate science, glaciology, biogeochemistry and planetary
science,
into government organisations such as the UK Environment Agency, and
into company-based consultancy and research.
Details on the programme and the application procedure can be found at:
<http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/geography/masters/polarandalpinechange/index>
The application round for 2014/15 Entry into the programme is open.
Please feel free to
contact me for information.
Best wishes,
Felix Ng
