Hi,
Could you please post this postdoc opening.
Many thanks in advance,
Ibrahim

*Postdoc position in Climate Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification at
KAUST*
Applications are sought for a postdoctoral position in climate modeling and
uncertainty quantification at King Abdullah University of Science and
Technology (KAUST). KAUST is a graduate research university located at the
Red Sea coast 80 km north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. KAUST employees and
students from around the world enjoy western style living campus (
http://kaust.edu.sa). KAUST hosts supercomputing facilities and has
established a high performance computing academic and research program.
The successful applicant will join an established research group at KAUST
working on ocean and atmospheric modeling, data assimilation and
uncertainty quantification problems. The group is collaborating with many
international institutes, including Scripps Institution of Oceanography,
Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas ? Austin, and
Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of
Miami. The primary responsibilities of the postdoc will involve developing
(global and regional) climate models with focus on the Middle East and
North Africa (MENA) region and addressing forecasting and uncertainty
quantification questions in the climate models and observational data.
Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate
disciplineand will have a strong background with large
scales climate codes. Familiarity in uncertainty quantification, Bayesian
inference, and/or data assimilation techniques and applications is a big
plus. Experience in scientific programming in Fortran and other
languages/software, and high performance computing is a must.
The compensation package includes a competitive tax-free salary, free fully
furnished housing, full health care, 4 weeks annual vacation, free
international schools, and family annual travel allowance.
To apply, please send a curriculum vitae and a statement of research
interest with the names and contact information of at least two references
to Prof. Omar Knio (omar.knio@kaust.edu.sa) and Prof. Ibrahim Hoteit (
Ibrahim.hoteit@kaust.edu.sa).
