I headhunt within the systematic and quant trading space and am currently working on behalf of a Weather / Commodities driven hedge fund in London looking for a statistician. The fund are ideally looking for someone with a PhD background in one of more of the following: meteorology / uncertainty analysis / climate or weather forecasting. It would be preferable if candidates had exposure to working with forecasting / modelling large sets of real world data.
There is no official job specification for this role, however, I have provided a short summary below:
Traditionally, the fund who have c. $600m AUM have hired fundamental analysts to cover gas, power, coal and oil derivatives but they are now looking to develop more sophisticated strategies and this is where they feel a "statistician" could add strong value. In this position, the individual would be focused on statistical analysis for the interpretation of weather forecasts for energy trading.
The fund is up >24% so far this year and there are strong growth opportunities. Depending on experience, the individual would come in as a lead statistician or be supporting the existing stats group and be assigned research projects.
The fund has 25 people so this role would suit candidates who are keen to work in a small but very entrepreneurial environment. They are very laid back and relaxed, and value a strong personality as paramount.
If you are interested in learning more about such an opportunity, please send across a copy of your CV as soon as possible to Anthony Sturt on a.sturt@huxley.com<mailto:a.sturt@huxley.com>.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Anthony Sturt
