About the Role
As a Wind Model Developer some of your key responsibilities will involve;
Managing and working on the development of a new Europe hail/summer storm model, to be developed in 2015.
Cooperation with the Institute of Meteorology and climatology of the University of Cologne (IMGK) including one full-time PhD and two part-time Post-Docs.
Lead the cooperation between the two teams and act as the knowledge transfer associate between the two institutions.
Coordinating the two different components of the project - the research and the business one
Working in cooperation with the rest of the Aon Benfield Impact Forecasting Wind team in the London and Prague offices on their remaining projects; most importantly the development of the EU winter storm model (planned to expand in the next few years).
Day-to-day contact with external clients or internal model users, thus support the model in the market.
Frequent travelling to meet other team members (in Prague or Chicago) or clients in Europe
Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
About you
As a Wind model Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include;
The very minimum requirements would include MSc or equivalent
PhD or Post-doc advantageous
Background in Meteorology and/or Climatology
Experience working with climate models (i.e weather forecasting models) in the past
Academic background will be considered an advantage
Research related background is welcomed.
Any work experience in developing Cat Models for atmospheric hazards (Hurricane or EU Wind) in the industry will be considered an advantage.

The Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences of Purdue
University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist
position in the area of atmospheric general circulation, climate dynamics
and climate change. The successful applicant will work under the
supervision of Dr. Yutian Wu.
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in climate science or a
related field by the time of employment. The ideal candidate should be
skilled with numerical modeling and quantitative analysis of models and
observational data. Appointments will be for two years; renewal beyond two
years is contingent on funding.

About the Role

2. Minimum education requirements include an MSc or equivalent. A PhD or a Post-doc position will be considered advantageous.
3. Excellent computing and analytical skills, including programming for data manipulation and analysis (i.e. Matlab, IDL, VBA, C, R).
4. Strong presentational skills, with focus on simplifying complex concepts.
5. Any work experience in developing Cat Models for atmospheric hazards (Hurricane or EU Wind) in the industry will be considered an advantage.
6. We?re looking for an individual able to pick up things quickly following a sharp learning curve, with good planning skills and the ability to work independently. Must be innovative, enthusiastic and have strong communication skills.
