Our Marine and Coastal Risk Management (MCRM) team is growing. As a result, two exciting opportunities exist for like-minded scientists, mathematicians or engineers. Successful applicants will join our Coastal Processes team in either Skipton or Edinburgh. The MCRM team works metocean data in order to forecast and predict risks, providing support to coastal and marine managers and engineers in both the public and private sectors. We use a combination of the following industry standard models and tools for the calculation of hydrodynamics, wave transformation, wave overtopping and inundation, sediment transport and fluid dynamics.

Applicants will ideally be recent graduates with a relevant master's degree, or a first undergraduate degree with 2-5 years relevant experience. Your degree will be in one of the following disciplines: marine/coastal science or engineering, oceanography, mathematics, or another relevant geo-science.

Essential requirements of the role are:
* Proficiency in data analysis;
* Practical experience in numerical modelling (e.g. SWAN, TUFLOW, ADCIRC, EurOtop, Delft3D, MIKE21, and X-Beach);
* Experience in computer programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB, R, Visual Basic); and
* A demonstrable aptitude for mathematics and/or statistics.

Graduate Positions in Atmospheric Science at Indiana University Bloomington

The Department of Geological Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington currently seeks Masters and Ph.D. students interested in atmospheric science to work on projects related to tropical cyclone modeling, global climate modeling, and atmospheric remote sensing.

Indiana University runs a state-of-the-art supercomputing center and data storage archive, providing a top-tier center for Earth system modeling and data analysis. Indiana University also maintains a number of instrumentation sites throughout the Morgan-Monroe State Forest, and operates three LiDAR instruments. In addition to core atmospheric science training, the graduate program in the Department of Geological Sciences provides opportunities for interdisciplinary training and research, through collaborations with others within the department, as well as with Indiana University?s Department of Geography and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Required qualifications: BS degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, engineering, computer science, physics, math, or related disciplines with strong programming background, passion to explore challenging issues, and satisfactory English verbal and writing communication skills.
