Copernicus Sentinel-3 Senior SST Scientist Consultancy at EUMETSAT
EUMETSAT has an opportunity for a consultant to provide scientific support to Copernicus Sea Surface Temperature operational activities. This includes scientific and engineering aspects related to both SLSTR Level-1 Radiance and Brightness Temperature products and Level-2 SST products in support of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 marine mission. The consultant will work in a matrix structure providing cross-divisional support to the Copernicus Sentinel-3 Operations Team and will be a member of the oceanography team of experts and scientists of the RSP/MA-section of the Technical and Science Support Department. The consultant will work at EUMETSAT Headquarters, located in Darmstadt, Germany.
The following consortia can be contacted for further information and how to apply:

Forwarded from CLIMLIST...
Dear all,
I would like to call your attention to an open Graduate Research
Position (Master?s Level) in airborne observations of cloud formation.
The student will be exposed to field projects that include
aircraft-based observations and integrated analysis of observational and
modeling data.
The student's tasks include i) analyzing aircraft-based observation data
on cloud formation and cloud-aerosol interactions, ii) comparing in situ
observations with cloud-resolving model simulations, iii) quantifying
the impact of anthropogenic aerosols on short-term extreme weather
system development and long-term climate projection.
The deadline of Master?s Program in Meteorology Application is *April 1
2015*. Information of the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science
at San Jose State University can be found at
<http://www.sjsu.edu/meteorology>. Detailed information on the program,
the M.S. position and how to apply can be found at
<http://www.sjsu.edu/gape/>
Dr. Minghui Diao
Advanced Study Program (ASP) / Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL)
National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Boulder, CO, USA
Incoming Assistant Professor to the Department of Meteorology and
Climate Science
San Jose State University, San Jose, CA, USA
Phone: (+1) 303-497-1070
Email: diao@ucar.edu <mailto:diao@ucar.edu>
-------------- Detailed information of the job --------------
The student will conduct analysis of aircraft-based measurements,
including water vapor, aerosols, cloud droplets, ice crystals and
chemical tracers. The goal is to improve the understanding of cloud
formation, particularly high clouds, which remain one of the least
well-simulated components in numerical modeling.
Linking observations with model simulations is the key component of this
job. The tasks include:
i) Analyzing aircraft-based observation data on cloud formation and
cloud-aerosol interactions;
ii) Comparing in situ observations with cloud-resolving model simulations;
iii) Quantifying the impact of anthropogenic aerosols on short-term
extreme weather system development and long-term climate projection.
Job requirements:
- A Bachelor degree with a background in atmospheric science, physics,
engineering or related technical disciplines.
- Programming skills in at least one scientific programming language,
e.g., Matlab, IDL, R, etc.
- Good knowledge of English and good communication skill
- Ability and willingness to participate in field projects
The following qualifications would be desirable:
- Experience in collecting and processing observational data sets
- Research experience and an academic publication record
For further questions please contact Dr. Minghui Diao (diao@ucar.edu
<mailto:diao@ucar.edu>).
An online application to the Department of Meteorology and Climate
Science at San Jose State University must be submitted to the graduate
admission office via <http://www.sjsu.edu/gape/>. The application deadline
is April 1 2015.
