Two-year postdoctoral position in tropical cyclone modeling
A postdoctoral research position in tropical cyclone modeling is available at the Tropical Cyclone Research Laboratory (LACy) in R?union Island, France. The postdoctoral research fellow will work on the assessment of tropical cyclone forecast uncertainties through using ensemble track generation techniques and high resolution numerical simulations. The methods of investigation will include state of the art high resolution research and operational modeling systems as well as remote sensing observations (dual-polarized radar and satellite).
The position is for up to two years and should start anytime between August and October 2015. Work will be conducted in Saint-Denis de La R?union, in the premises of the Tropical Cyclone Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre (CMRS) hosted by the sub-division of M?t?o-France in the Indian Ocean. The candidate should have a recent Ph.D. in atmospheric science or in a related discipline and some experience in atmospheric mesoscale modeling. A good understanding of tropical cyclone theory would be considered as an important additional skill. The net annual stipend for a recent Ph.D is approximately 28,000? per year (including social services and health insurance) and can vary somewhat according to the applicant?s qualifications.
The selection process will start on 1st July 2015 and will continue until the position is filled. To apply please submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, list of publications and contact details of at least two references via E-Mail to Olivier Bousquet (olivier.bousquet@meteo.fr) and Fran?ois Bonnardot (francois.bonnardot@meteo.fr).

Taught Postgraduate studies in Leeds: MRes - Climate and Atmospheric Science.
Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science
School of Earth and Environment
University of Leeds
There are less than two weeks to go before the deadline for our dedicated full fees scholarship (UK/EU only).
http://www.see.leeds.ac.uk/admissions-and-study/masters-degrees/admissions-and-study/scholarships/
The course is specifically designed to provide a springboard for students who are keen to pursue a research-focussed
career (usually, but not necessarily a PhD).
For students thinking about a PhD in the future this course provides a proven route to ensure they give themselves a much
stronger chance which it comes to submitting their applications, in fact MRes students often multiple offers for PhD study.
Best regards,
Jim McQuaid
