The starting date is July 1st, 2015 or as soon as possible. The applicants must have documented qualifications in the research areas described below, and a strong interest in algorithm development and testing, as well as in quantification of uncertainties and publication of the results.
The successful candidate will be part of the Department of Research and Development at the DMI (http://www.research.dmi.dk<http://www.research.dmi.dk/>). Main research and development activities are focused on operational weather and ocean prediction, regional and global climate modelling including the cryosphere, as well as remote sensing research and our EUMETSAT satellite application facility (OSISAF).
The Department of Research and Development consists of approx. 60 scientists organized in two sections (Model Development and Climate and Artic Research), the Scientist Position will belong under the Section of Climate and Artic Research.
Job Description
Your research efforts will be part of a dynamic remote sensing group. You will work in research projects under the EU FP7 and H2020 programmes, the ESA's Climate Change Initiative and the EUMETSAT's OSISAF to:
* Develop an optimal estimation framework for retrieving snow/ice/ocean parameters from thermal and microwave satellite radiometer data
* Develop uncertainty models for remote sensing of ice and snow parameters such as sea ice concentrations, ice surface temperature and sea ice emissivity
* Contribute to the development of forward models for inversion applications
* Documentation and publication of all aspects of the research
* Write and contribute to scientific papers as well as project deliverables
Your Competences
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD or similar research background within several of the fields of:
* Application of microwave and infrared remote sensing data

Dear all,
We have an opening for another postdoc working on our HRToF-CIMS. The task
is to do research within the field of SOA using a high-resolution
time-of-flight chemical-ionization mass spectrometer (HRToF-CIMS). The
research tasks are associated with ongoing projects within the group and
includes upcoming measurements in China, traffic emission but also
laboratory studies on SOA formation. We appreciate experienced applicants
that together with current team of seniors/postdocs/Phd students can advance
the frontier on HRToF-CIMS research on SOA.
Details are found on this website: tiny.cc/UGOT_postdoc
Please forward to potential candidates!
