Dear all,

We have an opening for a 2-years postdoc in the application of the aerosol mass spectrometer and the chemical ionization mass spectrometer to the measurement of ice core samples at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), Switzerland (see more information enclosed). The project is a collaborative work between the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry and the Laboratory of Radiochemistry and Environmental Chemistry.

A PhD in chemistry, physics, or a related scientific field is a prerequisite for this position. Experience in mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry in general is highly desirable.
The applicant may start beginning next year and may apply using the following link:
http://www.psi.ch/pa/offenestellen/1111

Feel free to contact us for further information and to forward this e-mail to other potential candidates outside this mailing list.

Best,

Imad,

Our ability to predict the weather up to a week or more ahead saves our
societies billions of Euros annually and protects human life and property. The
great challenge today is to identify the limits of weather predictability in
different situations and produce the best forecasts that are physically
possible.

On July 1st 2015, the Transregional Collaborative Research Center ?Waves to
Weather? (W2W; SFB/TRR165) was established to address these issues and to
deliver the underpinning science urgently needed to pave the way towards a new
generation of weather forecasting systems. The W2W consortium consists of:
- the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU, Munich)
- the Johannes Gutenberg-University (JGU, Mainz)
- the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), together with
- the Technische Universit?t M?nchen (TUM)
- the Heidelberg University, and
- the Deutsches Zentrum f?r Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR, Munich).

One more position has been added to the ongoing recruitment process:

* Postdoc position in Project B1 ?Microphysical Uncertainties in Deep Convective Clouds and their
Implications for Data Assimilation" (Advisors: Dr. Bernhard Vogel and PD Dr. Michael Kunz, KIT; PI: Prof. Dr. Corinna Hoose)

The position is offered with a fixed-term employment contract until June 2019. The contract is time-limited
according to the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Law (WissZeitVG). The salary scale is TV-L E13. Employment in all positions shall begin as soon as possible.

Handicapped applicants will be given preference in case of equal suitability.
The W2W consortium strives to increase the proportion of women in research and
specifically encourages females to apply for these positions.

Reviewing of application will start on September 7, 2015 and continue until the position is filled. Please submit your application using the application tool of the W2W consortium (visit the website
http://w2w.meteo.physik.uni-muenchen.de for more information) and include the following components:
- CV
- letter of motivation
- research interests
- a record of studies
- master and bachelor certificates including a transcript of records
- doctoral experience
- the degree certificate
- contact information of two referees for letters of recommendation
- an English language certificate

The recruitement process for 15 PhD positions and 1 other Postdoc position in W2W is ongoing. Late applications for these can also be submitted onhttp://w2w.meteo.physik.uni-muenchen.de.
