Two funded postdoctoral positions are available focusing on the quickly
evolving area of interaction between the biogeochemistry of nitrogen
cycle and climate. The successful applicants will demonstrate experience
with with models or large datasets, and have a record of publications in
peer-reviewed literature. He or she will work on collaborative,
interdisciplinary modeling and model-data synthesis projects that are
relevant for predicting human impacts on biogeochemistry and climate.
The work will involve analyzing various aspects of the nitrogen cycle
and its climate impacts with an emphasis on land processes including
those that couple atmospheric and terrestrial nitrogen cycling. A wide
range of possible research topics are possible including the impact of
managed land on the nitrogen cycle, interactions between the nitrogen
cycle and terrestrial carbon storage, and interactions with atmospheric
constituents extending to pollution and climate change, as well as
constraining the nitrogen cycle with measurements. These positions are
open now and will be reviewed as they are received in Christine
Goodale?s, Peter Hess?s and Natalie Mahowald?s research groups at
Cornell University. The positions requires a PhD in a relevant area. The
project involves researchers at multiple institutions with the
possibility of travel for collaborations. Applicants should send an
email directly to <pgh25@cornell.edu>, <clg33@cornell.edu> and
<nmm63@cornell.edu> and include a CV and three references. Cornell
University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action educator and
employer.

modeling study assessing the impact of urbanization on key climate
processes over Singapore using the UK Met Office Unified Model under
funding from the Meteorological Office Singapore (MSS). The successful
applicant is expected to lead the development of the urban morphology
database for prescribing urban canopy parameters, consolidate
meteorological data for use in model evaluation, initiate and lead the
analysis of model fidelity in simulating the observed temperature and
energy balance impacts, contribute to the analysis related to local
convective processes, present results at conferences/meetings and lead
the writing of progress reports and scientific papers.
Successful candidates must have a PhD in a related field, relevant
modeling experience and excellent technical, organizational and
communication skills, both written and verbal to disseminate key results
to the academic community, project partners and government stakeholders.
The position will be based in the growing urban climate group of the

(<http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/geog/>). This will be a collaborative
project with the Center for Climate Research
Singapore(<http://ccrs.weather.gov.sg/index/>) and UK Met Office.
The position is approved for an initial two-year period and will remain
open until a suitable candidate has been selected. To apply, please send
a cover letter, full CV together with names and contact information for
three references via email to Dr Matthias Roth (<geomr@nus.edu.sg
