An exciting opportunity has become available for an MSc level (minimum) or
post-doctoral candidate with an interest in exploring Natural World insights
& translating into financial outcomes. The aim is to develop and embed a
supply and demand modelling capability to enable us to enhance our market
intelligence for different agricultural crop commodities. The candidate will
help develop a suite of predictive models using multiple supply side data
sources (eg. USDA acreage & crop progress/condition reports, regional
production data and export data together with remotely sensed data to assess
acreage and yield expectations) and key data/market intelligence regarding
demand for specific crop commodities. A particular goal is to identify
relationships that exist between remote sensed data and ground data to
enable large-scale yield models to be created using these proxies
(ultimately) for all global crop areas where ground data may be limited.
This position is a 36 month fixed term contract, with a £2k pa dedicated
training budget tailored towards your personal development. Management
training will be provided (worth c. £5-7k.). Extensive travel opportunities
also available.
