M.S. or Ph.D. Position in Atmospheric Sciences and Satellite Remote Sensing
A M.S. or Ph.D. Graduate Assistantship (GA) is available in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC). The assistantship provides competitive monthly stipend and health benefits.
The successful applicant will manage his/her research project and work closely with the group members at TAMU-CC and external collaborators on NASA funded research projects. The student will work on satellite remote sensing (including GPS occultation, NASA A-Train) and global model data to study the atmospheric boundary layer and cloud dynamic process or relevant topics of student's interest.
Applicants should have a BS degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences or similar disciplines. Preference for Ph.D. GA will be given to applicant with a MS degree in atmospheric sciences. Strong physics and math background, effectively communication orally and in writing and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment is essential. Experience on analyzing satellite remote sensing data and programming (e.g., IDL, Matlab, Fortran or Python etc.) are desired but not required.
Qualified applicants should send statement of research experience, a curriculum vitae, unofficial transcript(s), GRE (TOFEL, for international student) score(s), and the names and contact information of three references to Dr. Feiqin Xie (Feiqin.Xie@tamucc.edu<mailto:Feiqin.Xie@tamucc.edu>). For Fall 2016 enrollment, the complete application package of international students is due on May 1 for M.S. in Environment Science and April 15 for M.S./Ph.D. in Coastal and Marine System Science (CMSS). The US domestic student will have one extra month to complete the application.
