Post-Doctoral Position in Carbon Cycle Science at Penn State University

A postdoctoral position is available in the study of the fluxes and transport of greenhouse gases (GHGs). The position will focus on analyses of the observations from regional networks of tower-based GHG measurements, and ongoing support and development of those measurement networks. The measurement networks are used to infer both anthropogenic and ecosystem sources and sinks of GHGs. Opportunities exist to synthesize these measurements with other observations including airborne data and atmospheric turbulence data, and numerical models of atmospheric conditions. A variety of campaign-based observational tools including eddy covariance systems, rawinsondes, and light aircraft are available and can be coordinated to enhance the value of observations. The successful candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: carbon cycle science, boundary layer meteorology, atmospheric turbulence and dispersion, data analysis, and instrumental methods. Good communications skills, and a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field are required.

The initial appointment is for one year, with potential for continued support. The position is available beginning July 2016 , and will remain open until filled. The salary will be commensurate with experience, and will comply with Penn State University guidelines.

To apply please visit https://psu.jobs/job/63203 , please upload a current CV, a cover letter, the names and addresses of three references, and a brief statement of research interests and long-term goals. Questions can be directed to Dr. Natasha Miles ( nmiles@met.psu.edu ) or Dr. Kenneth Davis ( kjd10@psu.edu ). Applications received by 1 June will receive full consideration.
