We invite applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in
land
surface modeling, with a focus on model development and testing. The initial
appointment is for one year and renewable for up to three years depending on
performance. We seek highly motivated candidates to couple land surface
energy
and mass transfer schemes, distributed hydrological models, and ecological
models to investigate climatic impacts on terrestrial hydrological and
ecological processes. This is part of a NSF funded Macrosystem biology
project
(to study the internal and external forcings of the North American Monsoon
Systems (NAMS). The coupled ecohydrological model will be used to study the
impacts of climate change and rainfall redistribution over complex
terrains on
the spread of invasive species and the frequency of wildfires over river
basins
in central/northern Mexico and the southwestern US. This position provides
outstanding opportunities to collaborate with a broad interdisciplinary
team of
atmospheric scientists, hydrologists, and ecologists on the campus and
at the
Biosphere 2 (<www.b2science.org>) of the University of Arizona.
PhD in atmospheric science, hydrology, ecology, biogeochemistry, or an
interdisciplinary combination of these areas with programming skills is
required. Experience with the National Center for Atmospheric Research
(NCAR)
Community Land Model (CLM) and/or other land surface models, distributed
hydrological modeling, or ecological modeling is preferred.
The position is available immediately and will be remain open until
filled. The
