The Transregional Collaborative Research Center TR32 and the
Meteorological Institute at the Rheinische
Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universit?t Bonn, Germany, invites applications for
1 PhD Graduate Research Assistantship (Reference: TR32-D5-2)
Within TR32, Patterns in Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Systems: Monitoring,
Modeling, and Data, the project section D5 (A high-resolution
multi-scale space-time precipitation model from direct measurements and
remote sensing) offers the following PhD position:
X-band polarimetry for quantitative precipitation estimation
We expect strong interest in the fields of atmospheric science and
hydrology, remote sensing and radar polarimetry, radiative transfer
theory, and statistical modeling
Potential candidates with expertise in remote sensing and/or atmospheric
sciences are encouraged to apply. Experience in radar meteorology is
highly desirable. The competitive position (75% TV?L E13) is awarded for
3 years. We offer a productive and interdisciplinary working atmosphere
including comprehensive supervision. The PhD student will be part of the
Graduate School of the TR32 (IRTG).
