The successful applicant will undertake research in the dynamics and
simulation of the El Nino Southern Oscillation using the Australian
Community Climate and Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) model family and
observations. A particular goal of the position is to development a
hybrid coupled ENSO model for the understanding of the non-linear
dynamics of the El Nino Southern Oscillation. The successful candidate
will develop, design, execute and analyse suitable idealised model
simulations as well as analyse observational data sets.
The position will be hosted by the Monash Weather and Climate Group in
the School of Mathematical Sciences under the supervision of Dietmar
Dommenget. Monash Weather and Climate is a multi-disciplinary research
group formed jointly by the School of Mathematical Sciences and the
School of Geography and Environmental Science. Monash Weather and
Climate has recently received the highest rating of an ?outstanding
performance well above world standard? in the Australian Research
Council's "Excellence in Research for Australia" (ERA) report, making us
the leading university-based research group in Atmospheric Science in
Australia. Further the Monash Weather and Climate Group is a node of the
Australian Research Council?s Centre of Excellence (COE) for Climate
System Science, which involves multiple Collaborative Organisations
