Senior Energy Forecaster/ Weather Analyst
StormGeo is expanding both nationally and internationally, we are therefore seeking an experienced professional to join our renewables forecasting desk in Oslo, Norway. The core responsibility as a weather analyst and forecaster will be serving clients in the Nordic and European energy sectors. This would typically include demand- and supply forecasting (temperature, precipitation, wind, solar, etc.) encompassing the short, medium- and extend range time scales.
In addition to a passion for weather forecasting, the required skills are:
- Advanced University degree in meteorology or physical oceanography.
- Operational forecasting experience, with a strong understanding of both deterministic and probabilistic forecasting techniques, modeling systems, their individual strengths and weaknesses.
- Thick skin, ability to deal with traders and support and contrast one's opinion in lightly adversarial situations.
- Knowledge of the Nordic and European energy sector, power markets and sources of supply (wind, hydro, solar...).
- Proven ability to work individually and systematically, and to convey complex information easily to clients and media.
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English and Norwegian/Swedish as a minimum.
- Some programming skills are desired but not a requirement.
We offer:
- challenging and stimulating working environment with many degrees of freedom,
- excellent career development opportunities,
- fun-loving colleagues always ready for a laugh,
- competitive salary and benefits package.
