Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in global chemistry-climate modeling.

Possible research topics include investigation of interactions between atmospheric chemistry, anthropogenic land-cover change and vegetation biophysics in a global climate model, and quantifying the radiative and deposition effects of changing air pollutants on the global carbon cycle. This exciting and ambitious project is part of ongoing work to investigate the effects of emissions of biogenic trace gases and aerosols from vegetation on climate.

The position is for two years, with reappointment after the first year contingent on progress. Compensation is commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry, climate science, or a related field. Advanced scientific programming skills are essential and previous experience working on global chemistry-climate interactions is highly desirable.

To apply, send a C.V. and brief statement of interest to Nadine Unger at nadine.unger@yale.edu<mailto:nadine.unger@yale.edu>. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.

The CNRS Laboratoire de Glaciologie et G?ophysique de l?Environnement
(LGGE) and The Universit? Joseph Fourier (UJF) in Grenoble, France are
searching for a PhD candidate to be sponsored by the fellowship by UJF for
the period of 36 month starting from 1st October 2012. The topic of PhD
thesis is focused on the "Mechanisms of the moisture advection in high
latitudes in the present and future climate".

We expect that a successful candidate will have Master of Science degree
(those expecting to get the degree in summer 2012 will be equally
considered) in meteorology, atmospheric physics or related areas (e.g.
oceanography, geosciences, including geo-engineering). At least
preliminary knowledge of meteorology and climate dynamics or/and
capability to quickly learn is highly appreciate. Basic knowledge of
geophysical fluid mechanics, general familiarity with associated numerical
procedures and the major data storage formats, programming skills in
FORTRAN are highly desirable. Some experience with numerical modeling
would be an advantage but not unconditionally required. Working knowledge
of English is required. For applicants from abroad some basic knowledge of
French will be considered as an advantage, but not unconditionally
required.

Candidates should send their CV, statement of motivation and
recommendation from the adviser of Master thesis to
