Post-doctoral research associate in atmospheric chemistry: Airborne measurements of ozone precursor fluxes

In this ?proof-of-concept? project we will deploy a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer and other instruments on NERC?s Dornier light research aircraft and obtain fluxes of reactive volatile organic and nitrogen compounds over London by the method of disjunct eddy covariance. The postholder will develop the methodology, deploy and operate the instruments, analyse the data and write up the results for publication.
You must have, or expect to shortly be awarded, a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, have experience of field work and be able to fulfill all essential elements of the person specification.
This is a full time post, available from 1 October 2012 for a fixed-term period of two years. It is funded through an NERC research grant held between Lancaster University (Professor Nick Hewitt) and the University of York (Professor Ally Lewis and Drs Ruth Purvis and James Lee) with additional funding from Defra.
