Data Centre Product Analyst, based at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany
Important:

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Data Centre Product Analyst to support the routine production and reporting activities for Climate Data Records. The Analyst will be involved in handling data in reprocessing activities and monitoring relevant processes.
The Data Centre is EUMETSAT's multi-mission Archive holding all of the past, current and future data from EUMETSAT satellites including the metadata of products generated at the Satellite Application Facilities (SAF). In support to climate monitoring, Climate Data Records, generated from the reprocessing of long time series of the satellite data will from part of the Data Centre and be made available to the user community. In total, over 150 product collections are currently accessible for user ordering. Users can centrally access and order the historic data free of charge via the Product Navigator, which also encompasses the product collections of the SAF's.
Deliverables
The tasks of the Data Centre Product Analyst role include:
* Support the routine activities of climate data set generation;
* Coordinate the scheduling with the responsible personnel;
* Monitor the production process and generate routine reports;
* Prepare inputs to climate product processing and validation as requested;
* Support users/user queries on accessing the climate data records;
* Perform the first line analysis of anomalies in the Climate Data Record production process and support their resolution
Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants require an appropriate background in a scientific or technical discipline together with some experience in the operation of computer systems, preferably in an operational or real-time environment. Experience with using PCs is essential, including familiarity with the use of MS Word, MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Outlook. Unix scripting language such as Shell script, Perl or similar, and basic statistics skills are required. Fluency in both spoken and written English is mandatory and given that EUMETSAT has an international user community, a working knowledge of other languages would be a distinct advantage.
