PhD studentship opportunity in Glaciology at Norway for Indian citizens
To strengthen the field of polar glaciology in India, National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), in collaboration with the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI) is establishing two PhD studentships in Antarctic and Arctic glaciology. The students will carry out research based at NPI's Headquarters in Troms?, and are expected to follow and complete their PhD course work at the University of Oslo (UiO). The students will be jointly supervised by researchers at UiO, NPI and NCAOR. The successful candidates are expected to play a key role in promoting polar glaciology in India, upon receiving their doctoral degrees.

For further details about the post and application procedure, please refer - http://www.ncaor.gov.in/pages/view/290
Application deadline ? 31 July 2013

Postdoctoral fellow in climate dynamics

The Geophysical Institute has a vacancy for a postdoctoral fellow in climate dynamics. The position is aimed towards modelling processes associated with large-scale features of atmospheric climate change and variability.

The successful candidate will work with quantifying and understanding climate change and variability in the atmospheric jet streams, clouds, the mid-latitude storm tracks and/or the atmospheric energy budget. A particular interest in physical links between changes in the atmosphere and those in the ocean or sea ice will likely enhance broad collaboration opportunities within the institute and throughout the research community in Bergen. Demonstrated experience utilizing stand-alone atmospheric models and/or fully-coupled climate models to explore associated thermodynamic or dynamic physical mechanisms is an advantage.

Postdoctoral fellowships in atmospheric chemistry are open at the MIT Center for Global Change Science. Fellows will be required to have a doctoral degree in some area of the atmospheric sciences with significant experience in three-dimensional atmospheric chemical transport modeling. Experience with using these models together with observations to optimally estimate trace gas sources and sinks (i.e., inverse modeling) is desirable.

The Fellows will join the international team of experimentalists and theoreticians in the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment (AGAGE), and will focus on interpretation of AGAGE observations of greenhouse and ozone-depleting gases using such inverse methods. They will also join the large atmospheric chemistry group at MIT. Salary depends on experience.

The Molina Fellowship in Environmental Science was established to bring postdoctoral fellows and young scientists from emerging nations to MIT to pursue studies in environmental sciences. Molina Fellows will then return to their home countries better able to address complex environmental concerns. Individuals holding a Ph.D. degree in science or engineering and interested in pursuing work in environmental science are eligible for the one-year Fellowship with an annual stipend of $50,000 and discretionary funds of $3000.

To apply see http://cgcs.mit.edu/about/jobs and scroll down to Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Science. Deadline for receipt of completed applications is July 15, 2013.
