the twilight zone?
The interdisciplinary Marie-Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) Initial
Training for Atmospheric Remote Sensing (ITARS)
<http://itars.uni-koeln.de/index.php/about-itars>is pleased to
re-announce the availability of *1 Experienced Researcher (ER, 2 year)
position *in Potenza, Italy.
We offer
?Research and training in an exciting European network;

?6,500 (before all taxes and social security contributions, depending on
host country and family status);
?Secondments to our industrial partners;
?Excellent career-development opportunities.

investigation of the so-called ?twilight zone?; to characterize physical
processes occurring in the twilight zone and to establish statistical
relations among key variables**
**
*Description of work: *
Large parts of the atmosphere labelled as cloud-free in satellite
observations can be attributed to the twilight zone. Observations from
multiple sensors will be used for characterizing the physical processes
occurring in the twilight zone and to establish statistical relations
among key variables, like optical depth, water content, geometrical
extension as well as to assess the relation between the twilight zone
and the atmospheric waves. Experience on MWR potential for detecting
liquid water is gained via secondment to P13. A secondment of the ER to
P6 to work on the study of the Earth?s radiation balance is foreseen.

The Bureau of Meteorology is Australia's national weather, climate and
water agency. Its expertise and services assist Australians in dealing
with the harsh realities of their natural environment, including
droughts, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones. Through
regular forecasts, warnings, monitoring and advice spanning the
Australian region and Antarctic territory, the Bureau provides one of
the fundamental and most widely used services of government.
The Bureau contributes to national social, economic, cultural and
environmental goals by providing observational, meteorological,
hydrological and oceanographic services and by undertaking research into
science and environment related issues in support of its operations and
services.
The Bureau of Meteorology through the Climate Data Services section aims
to enable access for the community to Australia?s climate record
including that for the ocean. These services range from access to raw
data, analysed and interpreted data, map-based products or information
on frequency of occurrence of events. The Climate Data Services section
is seeking a talented and motivated Executive Officer to assist with
achieving this goal.
The position will take a role in coordinating and contributing to the
development and implementation of a range of technology-based projects
aimed at improving the access to ocean climate data and undertaking

products. As part of this work, the occupant will need to liaise closely
with other professional-level officers within and outside of the Climate
Program.
To be successful you will have relevant oceanographic, climate and
