Two postdoctoral researcher positions on project "Interpreting and
forecasting Adriatic surface currents by an artificial brain (NEURAL)" will
become available in a few months, after finishing negotiations with the
Unity Through Knowledge Fund (www.ukf.hr). The positions will be opened on
the period of two (2) years and will be based in the Institute of
Oceanography and Fisheries at Split, Croatia (www.izor.hr).

The foreseen activities of postdoctoral researchers will include:

- installation and maintenance of HF radar sites
- data analysis and quality check procedures
- in-depth data analysis and interpretation of physical processes
- use of mesoscale atmospheric models
- integration of HF radar and mesoscale model data to the neural network
algorithms
- assessing of the abilities and skill performance of the system
- designing and programming of operational procedures for ocean current
forecasting, including web design

The candidates are going to work in an interdisciplinary project team
composed of physical oceanographers, meteorologists, computational
scientists and ocean engineers.

The proposed work on project is a combination of geophysical and
computational sciences, therefore one postdoctoral researcher should have an
education in geophysical fluid dynamics (physical oceanography, meteorology)
while the other postdoctoral researchers should have an education in
computational sciences (software engineering, artificial networks).
