The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign is seeking a postdoctoral research associates to conduct research aimed at improving our understanding of the interactions among earth?s climate and terrestrial biogeochemical-biogeophysical systems. The candidate?s research will focus on studying the role of biogeochemistry, land cover and land use changes and their impacts on climate using an earth system model.
We seek candidate with a Ph.D. in earth system science, climate science, or another related field in the sciences or engineering with a working knowledge of global biogeochemistry model, an earth system model or similar complex models. A working experience in FORTRAN is must and parallel programming and running models on super computers is preferred. Demonstrated ability to produce quality research output, good oral and verbal communication skills and an interest in working with researchers from computer and other environmental sciences will be among the selection criteria.
The initial term will be for two years with the strong potential for renewal based on performance.
