Applicants should have a strong background in land surface hydrology, flood modeling and hydrometeorology. The post will undertake research on improving flood generating and routing processes within land surface models as part of the UK wide SINATRA research consortium, funded by NERC under its Flooding from Intense Rainfall programme (see http://www.reading.ac.uk/geographyandenvironmentalscience/Research/ESS/ges-SINATRA.aspx) and involving partners from Reading, Bristol, Newcastle, King's College London, Hull, and Exeter Universities, as well as private sector partners Halcrow and JBA and a host of public sector research organizations including the Flood Forecasting Centre, UK Met Office, Environment Agency, European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts, British Geological survey, Health & Safety Laboratory, and Public Health England.
