At Leicester we're going places. Ranked in the top 20 universities in Britain our aim is to climb further. A commitment to high quality fused with an inclusive academic culture is our hallmark and led the Times Higher Education to describe us as "elite without being elitist".
We are seeking a project scientist to work within the Leicester contribution to the CEC PANDA project. PANDA is looking to establish a team of European and Chinese scientists who will jointly use space observations and in-situ data as well as advanced numerical models to monitor, analyse and forecast global and regional air quality. PANDA will disseminate methodologies, tools and data to a variety of users.
The research scientist will develop, harmonize, compare and interpolate in-situ air quality (AQ) datasets; (Inter)compare of in-situ and satellite data; Develop AQ and satellite data toolboxes as well as contribute to policy briefings and educational activities.
You will plan and produce independent original research by analysing and interpreting data to bring new insight to the field of study. You will investigate air pollution in the Chinese context through a range of observations.
You will undertake data analysis from satellite and ground observations in order to discover new knowledge which can be applied to the research area.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Professor Paul Monks on psm7@le.ac.uk or 0116 252 2141.
The closing date for this post is midnight on 25 January 2014.
The interview date for this post will be on a date to be confirmed.
