PhD Position Opening in Atmospheric Science, University of Nevada - Reno
Applications are invited for PhD students in Atmospheric Science to join the Atmospheric Turbulence and Air Quality (ATAQ) Research Group (www.unr.edu/~hholmes<http://www.unr.edu/~hholmes>) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The Research Assistantship is available for up to four years and includes financial support for tuition, health benefits, and a monthly stipend. The position will be to conduct research toward a PhD degree under Dr. Heather Holmes in air pollution, numerical modeling, and atmospheric turbulence. The primary focus will be on numerical weather prediction models (WRF) and chemical transport modeling (WRF-Chem, CMAQ) to research atmospheric chemistry and physics. Specific topics of investigation include ozone transport and source apportionment for the state of Nevada, modeling of cold air pool events in the Western United States, development and implementation of turbulence parameterizations for numerical models, and air pollution and human health studies.
