Environmental Chemistry Analyst (Maternity Leave substitute).

LOCATION
IC3 Headquarters in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Institut Catal? de Ci?ncies del Clima (IC3) is a climate institution
created by the Government of Catalunya and the University of Barcelona,
aiming at understanding of current and future climate at both global and
regional scales, while aiming at improve and further develop technical
capabilities and tools to simulate unprecedented changes in climate
impacts on societies and economies. IC3 focus on the Mediterranean
regions, tropical Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.
Within IC3, the Laboratory for the Atmospheres & Oceans (LAO)
encompasses the bulk of technical developments needed to sample and
monitor the climate. Infrastructure and equipments for characterization
of atmospheric composition are also developed as a part of the frontier
technologies and new concepts in environmental monitoring. The LAO is
actively working towards the development of new aircraft deployed
measurement instruments, with high-precision and accuracy, for
discriminating compounds in very diluted air samples. The LAO maintains
an active collaboration with many international institutions, labs and
manufacturer companies devoted to innovation in novel analytical
technologies. The LAO is formed by a mixture of expertises, ranging from
telecommunications and chemical engineers, physicists, agricultural
engineers, biologists and environmental scientists.

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Chemistry Analyst (Maternity
leave substitute) to work in our Lab displayed around the Iberian Peninsula.

REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must have a Degree in Chemistry, Ecology or related Earth
sciences.
- Demonstrated experience on gas chromatography.
- Advanced skills using [R] and LabVIEW.
- Availability to travel around Spain and internationally.
- Driving license is required.

HPC Systems Engineer

NIWA is a leading environmental research institute and key provider of atmospheric, freshwater and marine research and consultancy services in New Zealand.
A key component of NIWA's research infrastructure is the High Performance Computing Facility (HPCF) (http://www.niwa.co.nz/our-services/hpcf), which is used to support research activities in climate, chemistry climate, weather, river flood, sea state, ocean, sea-level, and inundation modelling and forecasting, as well as an operational environmental forecasting system (EcoConnect). The system is also used to meet the High Performance Computing (HPC) requirements of researchers within the wider national community via New Zealand's National eScience Infrastructure (https://www.nesi.org.nz/).
We are seeking a Systems Engineer for our HPCF Operations Group who is capable of both managing a large High Performance Computer, and providing support to operational and science users on the systems. In this role you will be expected to work on a potentially wide range of technical tasks within project teams that include staff from the other NeSI sites at the University of Auckland and Canterbury University. It also offers the opportunity to be involved in the full procurement process for a replacement system.
Candidates will have a tertiary qualification in computer science and/or other sciences or equivalent work experience, with at least five years' experience in the design, implementation and operation of Linux and/or Unix HPC services. Familiarity with AIX, GPFS, xCAT, and TSM, would be advantageous, as would experience with data management and system integration services.
The position requires candidates with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment, who are well-organized and solution-oriented.
