The postdoc position is within the Climate, Ocean and Sea-Ice Modeling (COSIM) group which develops advanced ocean and ice models for the study of climate and climate change.

Detailed Description: The COSIM group seeks a postdoc to study the role of the Southern Ocean in mediating the oceanic update of heat and carbon dioxide. The scope of the project could include the study of air-sea exchange, ocean mixed layer physics, re-stratification via mesoscale eddies and ventilation time scales. The primary tool used in the project will be MPAS-Ocean<http://mpas-dev.github.io>, a multi-scale ocean model intended for the study of ocean processes ranging from sub-mesoscale to global scales of motion. The study will be carried out in close collaboration with Dr. Bill Large at NCAR who is leading the overall project. Opportunities for frequent or extended visits to NCAR are available.

Minimum Job Requirements: Experience and knowledge related to the design, construction and evaluation of computational models. Software skills including expertise in high-performance computing languages (e.g. Fortran, C, C++) and knowledge of a scripting frameworks (e.g. Python, MATLAB, NCL).
