*Vacancy: PhD position at the University of Innsbruck (Austria)*
The Institute of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences of the University
of Innsbruck (formerly Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, IMGI) is
one of the few institutes worldwide where atmospheric sciences and
glaciology are co-located. Accordingly, its scientific focus lies on all
aspects of mountain meteorology, earth-atmosphere interaction with
emphasis on snow- and ice-covered surfaces, and glacier-climate relations.
A PhD position is available at IMGI within the new research project
?*Atmospheric Downscaling for Glaciated mountain environments ? DoG*?.
Applicants should have a M.Sc. in meteorology, geosciences, physics or a
related discipline, with strong background in mathematics and scientific
computing, or a M.Sc. in mathematics or computer sciences with
experience in the earth sciences. The successful candidate is
self-dependent, yet able to carry out efficient team-work. S/he is
fluent in English (German is welcome but not required), and has a
disposition to publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
*HOW TO APPLY:*send a Letter of Motivation and a CV to
Marlis.Hofer@uibk.ac.at <mailto:Marlis.Hofer@uibk.ac.at>no later than
July 31, 2015. The employment is fixed-term for three years, with the
salary according to the standards for research projects funded by the
Austrian Science Fund
http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/. The starting
time of the employment is flexible within the year of 2015.
Best wishes,
Marlis Hofer
