Priogen is an energy trading and power plant optimization company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Priogen is operating in multiple European energy markets and is a leading company in European energy trading.
Currently we are looking for a meteorologist and a hydrologist to strengthen our team. They will become part of a young and ambitious team. In this role you shall work closely together with the traders.
Positions:
1. As a meteorologist your work will exist of making weather forecasts relevant for the European power markets, for both the short and long term. You will communicate these forecasts to the traders and advise them. Besides that you will translate meteorological knowledge to tradeable ideas, research these ideas and develop tools to incorporate them into our operational system.
2. As a hydrologist you will interpret the weather forecasts and translate them into an advice for the traders. You will have the opportunity to build your own models and incorporate them into our operational system.
Your profile:
- Master degree in meteorology or hydrology
- Strong modelling and numerical skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Able to perform under high pressure
- Communicative team player
- In-depth experience with VBA, Excel, Unix and/or Python is a plus
- Capability to interpret and translate complex hydrological and/or meteorological information into concrete trading information
- Experience with operational weather forecasting is a plus
- Fluent in English. Ability to speak French is a plus

Postdoctoral Research Scientist Position in
Regional-scale Hydrology and Hydroclimatology
University of Colorado, Boulder
Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES)
We seek a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to investigate the hydrologic
impacts of recent changes in land-cover and climate over key regions of
the United States. Specifically, the goals of this research are to (1)
identify the drivers of increased flood severity within the Missouri
River Basin over the last 4 decades using a hydrologic modeling
framework, and (2) assess the impacts of land-cover change on
evapotranspiration in the Great Plains region to provide insights on the
direction of future changes under projected climate scenarios. The
participant is encouraged to develop new and novel approaches to these
problems and extend their work to other geographical domains. The
participant will become familiar with the latest approaches for
quantifying disturbance impacts with geospatial tools including land
surface modeling and statistical analyses. This research position will
provide an exceptional professional development opportunity in a highly
collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with the potential to
participate in education and outreach activities.
Research will be done within the University of Colorado?s prestigious
Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (
<http://cires.colorado.edu/> ), and the participant will be encouraged
to collaborate with experts from NOAA?s Earth Systems Research
Laboratory ( http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/ ), the Western Water
Assessment (<http://wwa.colorado.edu/>), the department of Civil,
Environmental, and Architectural Engineering (<
http://www.colorado.edu/ceae/ >), and with other scientists and
stakeholders.
Job requirements: We seek a candidate with strong quantitative and
analytical skills. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in
engineering, hydrology, or related scientific field with a strong
emphasis on data analysis, statistical and numerical modeling of
hydrologic and climate systems. Experience with large-scale land surface
or hydrologic modeling is strongly desired. Interest in interacting with
water managers and regional stakeholders is also desired. Excellent
presentation skills, technical writing and are required.
Preferred Qualifications: At least one degree in a related science or
engineering discipline is strongly preferred. Computer programming in R,
Matlab, and python is desirable. The position is full-time with a full
benefit package. The initial appointment will be for one year with the
possibility of annual renewal based on performance and the availability
of funds.

Der Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD) ist der nationale Wetterdienst der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Seine gesetzlich verankerten Aufgaben umfassen neben der Vorhersage meteorologischer Vorg?nge u.a. die Erbringung meteorologischer Dienstleistungen f?r die Allgemeinheit oder f?r einzelne Kunden und Nutzer sowie die Herausgabe von Warnungen ?ber Wettererscheinungen, die zu einer Gefahr f?r die ?ffentliche Sicherheit und Ordnung f?hren k?nnen. In diesem Zusammenhang werden im Referat "Zentrale Entwicklung" grundlegende meteorologische Fachverfahren zur Verbesserung von Wettervorhersagen sowie von Wetter- und Unwetterwarnungen entwickelt. Eine der gesetzlich verankerten Aufgaben des DWD ist die meteorologische Sicherung der Luftfahrt. Dazu geh?rt die internationale Zusammenarbeit und die Entwicklung von meteorologischen Verfahren zur Erkennung und Vorhersage von Wettergefahren, die eine Gefahr f?r die Luftfahrt darstellen bzw. f?r das Air Traffic Management ben?tigt werden. Diese Entwicklungen werden u.a. im "Zukunftsf?higkeitsprogramm Flugwetterdienst" (ZFP) des DWD vorangetrieben.
Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst im Wesentlichen folgende T?tigkeiten:
? Wissenschaftliche Konzeption, Design und Entwicklung von Softwaresystemen und Verfahren, Systemen und Produkten zur Verbesserung der Erfassung und Vorhersage signifikanter flugmeteorologischer Ph?nomene unter Verwendung hochaktueller wissenschaftlicher Ans?tze
? Koordinierung technischer Voraussetzungen und Rahmenbedingungen f?r die wissenschaftliche Entwicklung von Verfahren und Systemen sowie deren ?bertragung in den operationellen Betrieb
? Wissenschaftliche Fortbildung und Zusammenarbeit mit nationalen und internationalen Partnern auf dem Gebiet der Verfahrensentwicklung f?r die Flugmeteorologie
Unerl?ssliche Qualifikationen zur Aus?bung des Dienstpostens sind:
? Erfolgreich abgeschlossenes naturwissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium (Universit?tsdiplom/ Master) der Meteorologie, Informatik, Mathematik oder Physik oder einer gleichwertigen Fachrichtung
? Bereitschaft und Bef?higung (d.h. Erf?llung der Voraussetzungen, wie u.a. amts?rztliches Gutachten) zur sofortigen ?bernahme in das Beamtenverh?ltnis auf Probe im Eingangsamt des h?heren Dienstes
? Einschl?gige hauptberufliche Erfahrung von mind. 2,5 Jahren nach Erwerb des Hochschulabschlusses im naturwissenschaftlichen Umfeld (Master/Universit?tsdiplom)
