NPL`s Environment Division is looking for an Earth Observation/Optical Calibration Scientist, ?25-34k plus benefits
As Earth Observation increasingly moves into climate applications there is a growing need to understand long-term stability of satellite data products. This calls for the application of measurement science techniques to all stages of Earth Observation: from preflight satellite instrument calibration, to methods for calibrating satellites using ground measurements (vicarious calibration and validation) to processing and analysis of Earth Observation data. NPL`s Earth Observation, Climate and Optical group is developing techniques for providing metrological rigour into all these stages.
We are looking for an experimental scientist to work in an optical radiometric laboratory on instrument characterisation and calibration. You will be involved in developing experimental techniques, performing investigations, and developing instruments for use in customer locations. You will also analyse and interpret these experimental results and write reports and scientific papers, as well as presenting results to customers and at scientific conferences. You will have opportunities to travel to customer sites and, occasionally, to perform field work.
