*Local climate processes related to variations in Australian drought risk*
Seeking a motivated candidate for a PhD project in the School of Earth,
Atmosphere and Environment at Monash University.
The project will examine the atmospheric and land surface processes
associated with decadal-scale variability in seasonal-scale drought risk in
Australia. Local atmospheric and land surface processes and large-scale
teleconnection patterns will be examined and compared between observations
and climate model simulations. This project is part of funded 3-year
Discovery Early Career Researcher Project from the Australian Research
Council.
Applicants must have a strong academic track record including an Honours
Class I or equivalent. Graduates with a background in atmospheric science,
climatology, oceanography, physics, mathematics or engineering are
particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should send an expression of interest to ailie.gallant@monash.edu
containing:
1. CV
2. Academic transcripts
3. Copies of any publications
4. A short statement outlining why you are interested in this research
project
If your expression of interest is accepted you will then be encouraged to
complete the official Monash University scholarship application process.
Applications close 23 October, 2015
Further enquires about the project should be directed to
ailie.gallant@monash.edu
