School of Earth and Ocean Sciences

Senior Lecturer / Reader / Chair in Climate Change Impacts

As part of an on-going programme of investment and development, the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, Cardiff University, is seeking to expand its leading research portfolio and excellent taught programmes by appointing an outstanding scientist to a Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor level position in Climate Change Impacts. We seek highly creative and interactive applicants whose research and teaching interests focus on climate change impacts. Specific areas of research interest may include, but are not limited to, understanding the impacts of anthropogenic climate change and/or natural climate variability using numerical modelling and methods from two or more of the following: climate science, ecosystem science, atmospheric science, oceanography, cryospheric studies, land-surface processes, biogeochemistry, sustainability science and/or integrated impact assessment. Expertise in numerical modelling combined with observational approaches is highly desired. We particularly seek candidates who complement our current research programme and have the skills, enthusiasm and motivation to engage with members of School and the Cardiff University Research Institutes in Sustainable Places and Water, to address some of the major outstanding questions on the causes, drivers and impacts of climate variability over a range of temporal and spatial scales. You will join our lively and dynamic School which is internationally recognised for its research and teaching. You will have an excellent academic research record, including quality peer-reviewed publications and the proven ability to secure external funding to support your research and ensure its impact beyond academia. A strong commitment to teaching, including practical classes and fieldwork, at all levels is also essential. Appointment will always be made on merit. The School of Earth and Ocean Science is committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting women's careers in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in higher education. The level of appointment will be commensurate with experience of the successful candidate.

Full vacancy information and details on how to apply can be accessed via the University's website: http://www.cardiff.ac.uk<http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/>
