Maritime Weather Forecaster at MeteoGroup in Aberdeen
As a Maritime Weather Forecaster you work in a team of experienced forecasters who provide meteorological services for the worldwide maritime market. A part of the team is based in Aberdeen and the other (largest) part is based in Wageningen (The Netherlands). The maritime forecasters provide detailed weather forecasts for all aspects of the maritime and offshore industry on a daily basis, using mostly MeteoGroup developed software.
As the weather plays an important role, accurate weather forecasting is essential for safe and economical optimization of offshore work. Each special project has its own limitations and may require different parameters. It will be your tasks to serve our clients the best we can by providing all the necessary information needed for their projects and day to day business.
You will be working in shifts, including the weekends, evenings and nights. We are looking for someone who enjoys working together with a team of energetic and creative colleagues, all over the world.
Our requirements:
* Degree in meteorology or Air Force equivalent, comply with the BIP-M according WMO 1083;
* Preferably experience with forecasting for aviation (low level / helicopters) and/or offshore & shipping;
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written;
* You have a team player attitude and quick learning abilities;
* Above average computer skills and high ability to get acquainted with new software;
* Excellent focused and service providing attitude towards customers;
* Ability to deliver high quality work under time pressure.
