Dear colleagues,
I have an opening for a 3.5 year PhD position at the University of Hamburg
in the DFG funded project Energy Transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean:

The aim of this project is to improve climate models by developing
energy-consistent stochastic subgrid-scale parameterizations for the
new German climate model ICON. Currently climate models exhibit many
biases due to inadequate representation of unresolved processes. Here
we will systematically develop a novel framework for the parameterization
of unresolved processes. The postholder will develop and implement this
approach into ICON. I am looking for candidates with interests in
mathematical methods and climate model development.

Prediction" (CliSAP) is a joint effort of Universität Hamburg and
its partners, supported by the German Research Foundation. CliSAP is
the nucleus of the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability

The CEN combines expertise from the natural and social sciences
