Please find below an announcement of a 3-year Postdoctoral fellowship at
the University of Évora, Portugal.
A call is open, *until September 30*, for a *post** doctoral fellowship* at
the University of Évora, Portugal.
*Field:* Earth Sciences: Meteorology and Climate
*Project:* ALentejo Observation and Prediction system (ALOP)
*Admission requirements:*
· PhD in the area of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences or arelated field.
· Work experience in atmospheric modeling and weather forecasting.
· It will be valued his/her scientific publications, as well as the
computer skills with proficiency in at least one programming language.
*Work plan*:
The investigator will be responsible for the task 1 of the ALOP project, called
"weather Improvements in local scale, based on the regionalization of the
numerical weather forecast for Portugal", including the following
components:
(I) update the land cover maps for use in weather prediction models
Improve the regional weather forecasting, focusing on the following aspects
relevant to the region:
(Ii) extreme events (fog, heavy rainfall, strong winds, heat waves and
drought episodes);
(Iii) precipitation and evapotranspiration, in particular the direct
evaporation from existing reservoirs in the region;
(Iv) soil water conten;
(V) Global and direct solar radiation (DNI);
(Vi) UV Index;
(Vii) night darkness.
*Workplace*: The work will be done in Évora Pole of the Institute of Earth
Sciences (University of Évora), under the supervision of Rui Salgado
*Length of contract:* The grant duration is six months, starting in October
2016, with the possibility to renew it until the end of the project, up to
a maximum period of 3 years.
*Salary*: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1495 per month, according
to FCT values for Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en
)

COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY
ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS
The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level.
We solicit candidates in the areas of atmospheric radiation and remote sensing.
The new faculty members will be expected to build and maintain a strong, internationally recognized research program supported through external funding, complement and expand upon the current research and teaching activities, and provide service to the University and broader community. They will also contribute to teaching and intellectual leadership in our atmospheric science curriculum at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels by teaching courses in the Department's core graduate curriculum, advising graduate students, and developing advanced courses in his or her areas of expertise. A Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a closely related field is required by the position start date. Candidates should have an outstanding research record in atmospheric radiation or remote sensing commensurate with experience and should demonstrate potential for continued extraordinary scholarship. Candidates must exhibit ability and enthusiasm to teach courses in the field of radiation and/or remote sensing in the department's graduate curriculum.

Search will remain open until the positions are filled.
