Job Opportunity at the University of Hertfordshire

Salary: Grade UH7 £32,004 to £38,183 per annum depending on skills and experience
Closing date: 12 October 2016

More details of the post are given in the 'Further Particulars' document.
This is a new Research Fellow post for a dynamic, high performing early career researcher. In the first instance the duration for the post will be five year term but it is expected that the successful appointee will grow their research activities to become a permanent academic staff member by the end of that period within the School of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics. You will work on an innovative research programme to modify and apply advanced atmospheric models (e.g. WRF and CMAQ) to predict long range transport and deposition of epidemic fungal spores and to quantify their consequences for crop productivity (e.g. losses from epidemic diseases spread by airborne spores). Source attribution and model evaluation will be conducted with data from field experiments and sensor observations using genomic and molecular diagnostic techniques with our collaborators, especially those at Rothamsted Research.
While you will be primarily based in the Centre for Atmospheric and Instrumentation Research (CAIR), School of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics, you will also interact with Rothamsted Research, the University's School of Life and Medical Sciences and School of Computer Science, and Centre for Agriculture, Food & Environmental Management (CAFEM) which is a collaboration between the University of Hertfordshire, the Royal Veterinary College, Rothamsted Research and Oaklands College.
