Atmospheric Sciences post-doctoral position at CCNY-CUNY: observation and model simulations of clouds in post-cold frontal regions

We seek applicants for a postdoctoral position in the Earth and Atmospheric Science Department at City College of the City University of New York to work on WRF simulations of extratropical cyclones to explore cloud properties in the post-cold frontal region.

The successful applicant will also participate in the data analysis of ground observations available at the East North Atlantic site of the Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement program to characterize and evaluate climate model simulations of cloud properties in post-cold frontal regions.

The position is for 1 year, renewable for two additional years, subject to satisfactory work. The position is open until filled, however preference will be given to applications received by Nov. 15, 2016. The start date is as soon as possible after the decision has been made.

Requirements: a PhD in the field of meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or applied physics; proficiency with computing in a unix/linux environment; strong programming and analytical skills; experience in atmospheric numerical modeling (WRF or GCMs) is strongly preferred; additional experience in analyzing remote sensing and/or Earth observations is preferred but not required.

To apply, please submit electronically: (1) cover letter, (2) CV (which should include a publication list) and (3) the names and contact information of three references to Dr James Booth, jbooth@ccny.cuny.edu <mailto:jbooth@ccny.cuny.edu> and Dr Catherine Naud, cn2140@columbia.edu <mailto:cn2140@columbia.edu>.
