One-year post-doctoral researcher position at the Norwegian University
of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway
The atmospheric, energy and environmental physics group at NTNU is
seeking a post-doctoral researcher in the area of middle atmosphere
dynamics to undertake the analysis of atmospheric carbon monoxide from
a 230 GHz radiometer operating in Antarctica. The profiles of CO will
be used in conjunction with a coupled chemistry-dynamics model (WACCM)
to assess the impact of northern hemisphere stratospheric warming
events on vertical motions over Antarctica. This position will
collaborate with Drs. Patrick Espy, Robert Hibbins, Frode Stordal and
Yvan Orsolini, and will be primarily based at NTNU in Trondheim,
Norway, with some time also spent at the University of Oslo.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or a
related field; strong analytical, statistical, and programming skills;
a good working knowledge of English; and the ability and aptitude to
network with collaborating groups. A background or interest in
inversion techniques, data analysis or modelling, is also desirable.

have a minimum of 3 year's experience in scientific documentation editing
and maintenance.

SCOPE:
To provide support to the Atmospheric Applications section, the Surface and
Atmospheric Sounding section, the Integration section, and the Climate
section. The writers responsibilities will cover the preparation and
maintenance of scientific documentation related to product definition,
generation and validation.
The documentation related to product operations includes e.g. :
* Product Generation Specifications,
* Algorithm Specification Documents,
* Product Guides,
* Product Format Specifications
* Product validation reports,
* Commissioning reports.
TASKS:
* The scientific writer shall manage documents which have a variety of
life cycles, type of input, purpose and readership. The inputs to documents
are provided by EUMETSAT meteorological scientists, product operation and
product implementation engineers. The purpose of the documents includes
defining systems for future implementation, describing and explaining
products and processing for a large community of users, providing the
results of verification and validation tests.
The tasks will generally include:
* Collect input to documents from scientists and engineers;
* Ensure consistency of style across documents;
* Prepare draft documents for review and document issues for
publication;
* Prepare Web site contents;
* Coordinate document releases with the User Services Division
responsible for Web site contents;
* Definition of scientific documentation maintenance procedures,
including templates and guidelines for contributors;
Qualifications and Experience
* A University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
* A minimum of 3 year's experience in scientific documentation editing
and maintenance.
Essential Skills
* Compiling documents from multiple contributors;
* Processing of large text documents with Microsoft Word;
* Processing of complex documents including images, equations, etc.;
* Participating in document reviews;
* Maintaining issues and revisions of documents;
* Making portable documents;
* Working within a Document management system.
Desirable Skills
. Processing of meteorological and/or Earth Observation satellite data;
. Knowledge of LaTeX;
. Knowledge of Framemaker;
. Knowledge of XML.

the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne seeks an
early career researcher to join the carbon cycle modelling and
inversion group headed by Peter Rayner. The position will focus on the
use of ground-based, column-integrated and satellite CO2 measurements
to infer sources and sinks of CO2 (although we expect to make use of
