Applications are sought for a postdoctoral position in physical
oceanography and ocean modeling at King Abdullah University of
Science and Technology (KAUST). KAUST is a graduate research university
located at the Red Sea coast 80 km north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
KAUST employees and students from around the world enjoy western

The successful applicant will join a newly established research group
at KAUST (http://assimilation.kasut.edu.sa) working on modeling and
studying the Red Sea, and developing data assimilation systems for
analyzing and predicting its circulation. The project is in collaboration
with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI). The postdoc is expected to
visit WHOI for several weeks per year. The primary responsibilities is to
study the Red Sea circulation and will involve running the MITgcm model
that has been developed for the Red Sea and analyze its outputs.
Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in physical oceanography and
have experience with ocean models. Familiarity with scientific programming
in Fortran, and other languages like Matlab and/or Ferret is a must.
Candidates with good publishing record will be given preference.
The compensation package includes a competitive tax-free salary; fully
