three projects funded by the European Space Agency, related to different
aspects of data assimilation using Earth observation data. The technical
and scientific activities in these projects will be undertaken in the
Universities that are part of the UK <http://www.nceo.ac.uk> National
Centre for Earth Observation (www.nceo.ac.uk). In addition to project
management, Assimila is also responsible for communication and engagement
activities to support the uptake of tools developed in these projects
amongst the wider science community.
We are looking for a good communicator, with an understanding of data
assimilation techniques, to work with scientists across the three projects
in publicizing the projects and supporting uptake of their results in the
wider earth science community.

Post-doc/Junior/Senior Positions for Researchers in
Climate Science and Application Areas
CMCC (Centro Euro-Mediterraneo per i Cambiamenti Climatici) is a
Consortium consisting of different Italian public and private research
institutions dedicated to climate-related research.
In the CMCC, the Division SERC (Climate Services Division) is responsible
for the production of climate predictions and climate change projections and
for the communication of the results and information obtained to a broad
range
of users: decision makers and stakeholders from industry, private companies,
political bodies and public administration and, finally, scientists and
researchers from other disciplines. In addition, the SERC Division
coordinates
research on adaptation policies to climate change and provides technical and
scientific support to the institutions for multilateral negotiation
processes in the
field of climate change (EU, IPCC, UNFCCC).
This Division is now seeking one or more people at junior or senior level to
work in climate science applications and in networking with decision makers
and stakeholders, concerning climate service at national and international
level
and in other international initiatives where CMCC participates such as Joint
Programming Initiative ? Climate (JPI-CLIMATE). The positions will cover
broad
range of research areas including:
? Assessment of climate change scenarios (both at global and regional level)
and detection of long term changes of various weather events (extreme
events, tropical cyclones, etc) based on past observations and model
simulations, understanding of uncertainty in the climate change projections.
? Analysis of climate information (historic records, current observations,
predictions at various time scales) and translate it into quantitative
information about impacts in various sectors (e.g., agriculture, water
resources, resources, environmental management, etc).
? Application of climate information in climate sensitive sectors
(agriculture,
water, economics, etc) to minimize climate-related risk.
The positions (post-doc, junior researcher or senior researcher) will be
determined based on his/her expertise and work experience. The first term of
position is up to 2 years with possible renewal.
The successful applicants will have a science related university degree or
higher level degree such as MSc. Or Ph.D. and proficiency in written and
spoken English.
The Applicants should send a short resume (maximum one page) with a short
presentation with reference to this position of interest, a comprehensive
