*Postdoctoral position in ocean circulation and global biogeochemical
cycles.*
The School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New South
Wales seeks a postdoctoral scholar to participate in research on ocean
biogeochemical cycles. The successful candidate will work with Mark
Holzer (UNSW), in collaboration with Francois Primeau (UCI) and Richard
Matear (CSIRO), on the modelling and analysis of the transport of
biogeochemical tracers, with an emphasis on nutrients and anthropogenic
carbon. The position is initially for one year, renewable for a second
year. The nominal start date is October 2012, but negotiable. The
successful candidate should have a PhD in oceanography or a related
field (e.g., physics or applied mathematics). Experience with ocean
general circulation models is desirable. Applications including a CV, a
statement of research interests, and a list of three referees should be
emailed to mholzer@unsw.edu.au.

Postdoctoral Investigator
Department of Physical Oceanography
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Woods Hole, MA 02543
Seeking a Postdoctoral Investigator to study transport and mixing due to oceanic submesoscale processes. The research will involve studying lateral dispersal of tracers and momentum on scales of 0.1-10 km in the upper ocean. The effect of eddies, fronts and instabilities due to surface forcing will be explored using a numerical model, theory, and observations. Knowledge in one or more areas that include fluid dynamics, physical oceanography, numerical (Lagrangian) modeling and data analysis is desirable. Funding is available for 1 year. Please contact Amala Mahadevan (amala@whoi.edu) with a CV and brief statement of research if interested.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution provides an excellent work and research environment. Please send a CV and description of interests and skills to amala@whoi.edu
